Abstract
| USGS reported world-wide earthquake activity with magnitude greater than or equal to 2.5 that has occurred within the past 7 days. Data is updated every 5 minutes. Real-time feeds from USGS (http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/feed/v1.0/geojson.php) are downloaded as GeoJSON files using WGET. The GeoJSON is converted to a shapefile using ogr2ogr. The resulting shapefile is then uploaded to a PostGIS database using ogr2ogr. A task scheduler runs every 5 minutes to download, process and upload the real-time feeds. |
